Since it's a rainy day today, I just thought of sharing some beautiful memories with you of us 27 years ago.
Back in the time of childhood to tell you how I spent my childhood during rainy season. The younger you were the better. You have always something to remember from your childhood and to laugh about, wondering how freely we lived the best time of our lives.
Beautiful memories to recall whenever it rained. There are some things that I vaguely recall, however those days are unforgettable. Whenever it rained, we had a group of friends (mostly our neighborhood friends and relatives of the same age) who would come to pick me up from my house. We all would run on the roads in the rain splashing water from the ponds in the muddy roads. Dancing as if no one would be looking.
Now when I mentioned the muddy ponds or puddles, they were not like the way you can think of. Roads were just like tracks with full of weeds, wild plants and muddy soil. People would spit and the domestic birds like hens would release their waste. We never felt disgusted to sit in the ponds though, but would lie on the stomach or keep rolling there as if we were swimming. It was so much fun to chase each other and play around in our district. From one house to the other, we would run looking for a Rain Gutter which could give us the most pouring with pressure. One at a time would stay under the Rain Gutter pipe with everyone else eagerly waiting to be the next person to shower under the water fall.
I miss playing a funny local game which we played with a tennis ball and 7 pieces of round flat various shaped stones, that we call "boss". I have no idea what it is called English. Anyways, the game was like you need to pile them up without letting any of the stones fall. Because of the roughness of the stones, it can hardly be placed on top of each other. You break them apart by hitting with the ball to begin with, you have to run so the other opponents get no chance to beat you and you cannot get defeated. To put you out of the game, the opponents have to pass the ball and try to hit you with the ball before you could pile up the stones one by one until 7 are nicely put in a pile without letting them fall. That game is more fun to play in the rain as it has lots of runs like in cricket.
Dancing in the rain was the most craziest thing we did during our childhood. We would go to dance on the beach which is accessible within 3 minutes walk from our homes. On the way, plucking some wild fruits from the trees eating them, making shelters with a bunch of leaves of the plants and sit in there talking and singing were stupid things that will be cherished forever.
When it rained so hard, it was difficult to see the person just 10 feet away, horrifying windy weather and the rough see roaring was very scary too. Though our parents were cool, they would only give us punishment when we reach home, they wouldn't go searching for us as the environment was safe from child abuse or harassments or we could say not aware of the possibility of being forced to do anything inappropriate and danger of any such crimes or even natural phenomenas. The following day again we would forget the punishments and being grounded by the parents the pervious day for being home late. As they say, ignorance is bliss!
Alright, thats all for now. At the same time I am completely serious about my children and wouldn't let them be out side home too long without one of us (the parents) being around. I thank God that we are safe and alive to remember those beautiful moments of life without having any harm despite of those naughty things we did. When it comes to our children we are careful, isn't it? But I must say because of having such a freedom and carefree days, we lived our childhood at it’s best, fully enjoying every little moment exploring and doing something new and learning from it. Yes, I miss those days and I wish I could live the moment again and again.
